Dear Parents, Guardians and McKinley Family
I am very excited to join the McKinley Primary family as your new principal. Although this transition is quite different than the one I imagined, I feel extremely blessed to join such a caring and dedicated group of educators. Working with the staff this summer, I have been so impressed with the fortitude and positive attitude they have demonstrated during this challenging time. McKinley Primary’s reputation in Gridley is one to be proud of. The school is a safe, nurturing, child-centered environment rooted in strong partnerships with parents and the community.
A little about me. This is my 30th year in education and my 4th year in GUSD. I began my career as a first grade teacher, went on to teach every grade (except 5th) including middle and high school science, and have recently been serving as a teacher on special assignment for GUSD. My husband and I relocated here in Gridley four years ago from Southern California. He coaches football at GHS and teaches in special education. We have three grown children, they are all in Southern California. Our daughter works in a lab and we have twin boys who are beginning their senior year at UCSD.
I have had many opportunities to interact with the students here at McKinley over the past few years and have enjoyed their eagerness to learn and show off what they know. I was also able to spend quite a bit of time with Mr. Mac before his retirement, getting to know “the McKinley way”. It will be my priority to continue the legacy he has left in my hands. I am so proud to continue my career as a McKinley Mallard and to have the opportunity to support you, our students and our staff during this unprecedented time.
